as i mature, more so than ever, i discover more and more the importance of tradition. it's the substance that keeps families and culture together.
let's take cny for instance. without it, many wouldn't even know who's in their extended family (even if you knew, how often do you meet and sit down and chat?). those who played with your parents when they were young, whose siblings were your grandparents and who knows titbits of info and crazy stories about your family that you never knew. there's the exchange of goods, which shows that you're remembered even if it's only once each year. besides, it's nice knowing the house is in tip-top condition for that few days each year. not to mention good food and a little extra cash. :))) granted, there're those you'd rather not see even if it's just an annual meetup but, like most things, pros and cons come in a set.
all in all, i guess i'm one who strongly believes all that prep is truly worth that effort.

ok. i wanted to post this with happy images of pineapple tarts that my family made but alas! blardie memory card/phone is acting up. will attempt again soon!
